The debate began when the College Football Playoff committee unveiled its first set of rankings at the end of October. But it didn’t end there.
The first of six weekly rankings were unveiled Tuesday, Oct. 31. That began the journey to selecting the four College Football Playoff teams for this season’s semifinals, which will be played Jan. 1 at the Rose Bowl Game and Allstate Sugar Bowl.

When are the next College Football Playoff rankings released?
The first installment of the 2017 College Football Playoff rankings were revealed Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. on ESPN. There will be six sets of rankings leading up to the College Football Playoff in 2018.
After the initial CFP rankings, there will be four new sets of rankings every Tuesday in November leading up to the final set of rankings on Sunday, Dec. 3.
